Trio Named as Finalists for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.

The three finalists have been celebrated for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The three contenders were announced live on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The champion will be revealed live on the annual sports awards show on Thursday, 18 December.

The event will be aired from 7 PM GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being nominated for this award is incredible," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Littler's Profile

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.

"Being nominated for this award again is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin came in second place in the season's run tally and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

"I'm truly honoured to be nominated for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more young females to get into cricket."
