The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure by Critical Role, revealed an exciting opening credits. It features the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while also hinting at several agonizing backstories for characters including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was lost in the music selection.

This sequence employs "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar song composed by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track originating from the official score of that title, the second release put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a great sentimental option, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will appreciate its inclusion.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it only got better when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's opening with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's a grand composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, the creators has already said that the animated show will have some surprises and variations from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its opening seems to be among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
