Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is an option. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing near-decade reign that included a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and providing guidance for the DFL.
The club claimed the league title last season, but many fans holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he told the podcast host: “I stated I won't manage another team in England. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“At 58 years old, which suggests the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”
When asked about what circumstances would have to unfold to bring him back to the dugout, he confessed he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties weekly.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, yet sharing a meal with the team having a nice chat, I appreciate that. With many victories thus frequently great spirits around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle vividly recalled for example.”
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments that took the title in the previous season. The team has suffered a string of losses in all competitions after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the suggestion it could be a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”
Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in in 2020, and its impact at the club. The forward died tragically in a vehicle collision with his brother recently.
“Who can fill the void of such an individual? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad missing him. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A profound tragedy for his teammates also. Not a single person would cite it as an excuse but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that individually is difficult. Unbearable.”
