Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades After Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Manager Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with the Championship side just seven months following leading derogatory songs directed at the team's coach, Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, without a club since leaving Leeds, has signed a deal with the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. His lengthy time with Leeds was ended through agreement this past summer.

Among the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player was to lead insulting songs regarding Wilder amid the club’s promotion celebrations this spring. Now, the one-cap England international will feature for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to rescue his beloved club out of the drop zone.

Past History Between the Striker and Wilder

The pair had history before Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League last season and United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as a "muppet" when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured automatic promotion while Leeds missed out in the playoffs.

Reconciliation and Looking Ahead

Everything seems to have been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement in attack and Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his playing days.

The Wilder chant went viral in April. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, called Wilder the next day.

Wilder stated back then: “Had a conversation with Patrick recently and I’ve no problem whatsoever with it. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel as well and had a longer discussion together and he is a great person, a class act. When I was playing we used to give it and take it and that is an integral part of the game across all levels, including Sunday league. I have no problem at all. I am cool with it and I said that to Pat.”

Recent Career Challenges

The forward made 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough player has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
