Irish Artist CMAT Reschedules UK Concert Series Because of Wisdom Teeth Pain

Irish singer CMAT has declared she will reschedule her sold-out UK tour that was scheduled to commence today.

In a social media statement, the 29-year-old rising star stated she needs urgent dental surgery to remove two wisdom teeth.

"I presently can't even open my mouth wide enough to laugh let alone sing," she informed her followers.

Fans will be provided either a rescheduled concert date or a refund.

Tour Information

CMAT, whose birth name is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, was planned to play in the capital on Thursday as part of her Euro-Country tour, following the launch of her latest record in last month.

She was planned to perform in Manchester city, Glasgow city, Leeds town, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Glasgow again over the next seven days.

Thompson announced she would cancel her upcoming performances after finding out she had an problematic wisdom tooth.

"I realise that this will create difficulties for numerous of you who may have arranged to journey to these concerts," CMAT shared.
"And for this I can only say I am so so sorry."

Dental Condition

A dentist informed her she needed an operation to remove both lower wisdom teeth soon, for which she'll need to take at least 14 days recovering.

The Irish artist revealed she cannot "chew any food" and "can barely concentrate" because of the pain.

Future Plans

New dates for the autumn leg of CMAT's tour will be announced "promptly," the singer stated.

Her UK tour is planned to conclude in spring before she performs in European countries and at the 2026 Coachella festival.

She played at Glastonbury Festival recently, where she spoke about her experience of online body-shaming after a festival performance the year before.

Musical Context

Euro Country, the lead song from the artist's new album explores the consequences of the 2008 economic downturn in Ireland.

A broadcaster was forced to clarify it did not edit out the Gaelic intro to the single in its initial airing after 45 seconds of the song were not aired during broadcast.

The network stated it had aired the edit supplied to them by CMAT's record company.
