Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
